Nonmagnetic component having high strength and toughness at temperatures below 5 degrees k and a process for producing it
Abstract
Abstract For nonmagnetic components comprising an austenitic corrosion-resistant alloy containing, in % by weight, carbon max. 0.15 silicon max. 1.0 manganese from 11.0 to 25.0 chromium from 10.0 to 20.0 nickel up to 5.0 molybdenum up to 1.5 nitrogen from 0.05 to 0.55, balance iron and production-related impurities, it is proposed according to the invention that the material be hot-formed at least four times, then solution-annealed at a temperature of from 1010 degree C to 1080 degree C, subsequently quenched and cold-formed at least 5%. To stabilize the nonmagnetic material state having a relative permeability of less than 1.005 and to retain the toughness at temperatures below 5 degree K, the hot-formed material is subjected to a solution-annealing treatment at from 1010 degree C to 1080 degree C for a time of at least one hour and subsequently quenched, after which cold forming with an at least five-fold degree of forming is carried out at a temperature of from 90 degree C to 700 degree C.
