Abstract The present invention provides a pressure control system for an injector. The pressure control system includes a compliant piston or piston extension member that connects to the plunger of an injector-actuated syringe to prevent pressure overshoots when, for example, a closed or blocked fluid delivery pathway is encountered during an injection procedure.
