Hip prosthesis stem with a medullary cavity drainage system

Abstract

Abstract The invention relates to a hip prosthesis stem which can be cemented in the medullary cavity of the femoral shaft. A prosthesis device is provided for the replacement of a femoral head by implantation into the femoral bone, said prosthetic device comprising: a) a stem of said prosthesis with a central borehole in its longitudinal direction, which can be curvilinear, following the curvature of the bone cavity, b) a drainage tube, to which vacuum can be applied, fitting slidably into said central borehole, c) a porous medullary cavity stopper fitting into the lower portion of the medullary cavity, d) a detachable fastening means between said drainage tube and said porous medullary cavity stopper, allowing said vacuum to act through said porous medullary stopper, and allowing to fasten the distal end of the drainage tube to the central portion of the medullary stopper. The invention further relates to a prosthesis for repair or replacement of a femoral head.
