Hemostatic puncture closure system and method of use
Abstract
A system and a obturator (22) make it possible to locate a blood vessel (26) through a percutaneous perforation (24) and to close said perforation made in the vessel. The system includes an introduction sleeve (28, 28 ') and an associated location device (200, 300, 400, 600), a hemostatic perforation shutter (22) and a deployment device (20). The locating device (200, 300, 400, 600) allows the introduction sleeve (28) to be placed at the desired location in the vessel (26). The deployment device (20) comprises a tubular vector (100) enclosing the shutter (22). The vector (100) has a free distal end (104) which can penetrate thanks to the sleeve (28, 28 ') through the perforation (24) and its passage (24A). The shutter (22) has a rigid anchor opaque to X-rays (32, 32 '), a compressed collagen plug (30) and a thin filament (34) connecting them as a pulley would . The vector (100) ejects the anchor (32, 32 ') through the sleeve (28, 28') and the perforation (24) and then brings it back against the free end of the sleeve. The deployment device (20) and the sleeve (28, 28 ') are then jointly removed to press the anchor against the tissues adjacent to the perforation located in the artery. Continued withdrawal brings out the plug (30) from the vector (100) in the passage of the perforation (24A), then the plug (30) moves relative to the anchor (32, 32 ') and becomes embedded into the outside of the arterial wall to seal the perforation or incision (24). A tensioning device (116, 118, 120, 122) limits the force applied to the filament (34). The vector (100) also comprises a system (130) which mechanically deforms by plugging the plug (30) when the latter is in the passage (24A). Once it is in place, hemostasis occurs quickly and blocks the obturator (22) on site.
