Piperidyl carboxylates

Claim 2

A compound having the formula: ##STR156## wherein .[.R I and R II are the same or different and each is a straight or branched alkyl group, having from 1 to 4 carbon atoms, or R I or R II , together with the carbon atom to which they are each attached form a cycloalkyl group having from 5 to 12 carbon atoms;.]. Y is .[.an.]. alkyl .[.group, having.]. .Iadd.of .Iaddend.from 5 to 20 carbon atoms, alkenyl .[.having.]. .Iadd.of .Iaddend.from .Iadd.2 to 20 carbon atoms, or aralkyl of from .Iaddend.7 to 9 carbon atoms, n is .Iadd.1 or .Iaddend.2, .Iadd.and .Iaddend.R.Iadd., when n is 1, .Iaddend.is hydrogen, alkyl of 1 to 20 carbon atoms, alkenyl of 2 to 20 carbon atoms, cycloalkyl of 5 to 12 carbon atoms, aralkyl of 7 to 14 carbon atoms, 3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl, 3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxybenzyl, 2-(3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl or aryl of 6 to 12 carbon atoms, unsubstituted or substituted by alkyl of 1 to 4 carbon atoms, alkoxy of 1 to 4 carbon atoms or halo or, when n is 2, alkylene having from 1 to 20 carbon atoms, cycloalkylene having from 5 to 12 carbon atoms, arylene .Iadd.of 6 to 20 carbon atoms.Iaddend., vinylene, propenylene, p-xylylene, .[.the group.]. --CH 2 CH 2 SCH 2 CH 2 -- or R is .[.absent.]. .Iadd.a carbon-carbon bond;.Iaddend. .[.and.]. .Iadd.or .Iaddend.a salt thereof selected from phosphate, carbonate, sulfate, chloride, acetate, stearate, maleate, citrate, tertrate, oxalate, benzoate and substituted carbamate.

Claim 3

A compound as claimed in claim 1 wherein .Iadd.R, when n is 1, is hydrogen, methyl, ethyl, n-propyl, isopropyl, n-butyl, sec-butyl, t-butyl, n-pentyl, 2-methylbutyl, n-hexyl, 2-methylpentyl, n-heptyl, 2-ethylpentyl, n-octyl, 2,2,4-trimethylpentyl, n-decyl, n-undecyl, n-tridecyl, n-pentadecyl, n-heptadecyl, eicosyl, vinyl, α-methylvinyl, β-methylvinyl, dec-9-enyl, heptadec-8-enyl, cyclopentyl, cyclohexyl, methylcyclohexyl, t-butylcyclohexyl, cyclododecyl, 1-perhydronaphthyl, 2-perhydronaphthyl, adamantyl, cyclopentylmethyl, cyclohexylmethyl, β-cyclohexylethyl, 1-(perhydronaphthyl)methyl, 2-(perhydronaphthyl)methyl, β-[1-perhydronaphthyl]ethyl, β-[2-perhydronaphthyl]ethyl, benzyl, β-phenylethyl, 1-naphthylmethyl, 2-naphthylmethyl, β-[1-naphthyl]ethyl, β-[2-naphthyl]ethyl, phenyl, o-tolyl, n-tolyl or p-tolyl, o-ethylphenyl, m-ethylphenyl, p-ethylphenyl, o-isopropylphenyl, m-isopropylphenyl, p-isopropylphenyl, o-t-butylphenyl, m-t-butylphenyl, p-t-butylphenyl, phenylphenyl, 4-methyl-1-naphthyl, 4-ethyl-1-naphthyl, 4-isopropyl-naphthyl, 4-t-butyl-1-naphthyl, 3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl or 2-(3,5-di-t-butyl-4-hydroxyphenyl)ethyl, or, when .Iaddend.n is 2, .[.and R.]. is .[.a.].methylene 1,2-ethylene, 1,4-butylene, 1,8-n-octylene, 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,4-butylene, 1,10-n-decylene, 1,2-eicosylene, vinylene, propenylene, 1,2-.Iadd.cyclohexylene.Iaddend., 1,3.[.or.].-.Iadd.cyclohexylene, .Iaddend.1,4-cyclohexylene, .[.cyclohexyl-3-ene,.]. 1,2-.Iadd.phenylene.Iaddend., 1,3-.[.or.]..Iadd.phenylene, .Iaddend.1,4-phenylene, p-xylylene, 1,4- .[.or.]..Iadd.naphthylene, .Iaddend.1,5-naphthylene, diphenylene.Iadd., .Iaddend..[.or.]. diphenylmethylene .[.residue.]. or .[.the group.]. --CH 2 CH 2 SCH 2 CH 2 -- or R is .[.absent.]. .Iadd.a carbon-carbon bond.Iaddend.. .[.3.
