Abstract

Abstract The subjecting of poly(ethylene/tetrafluoroethylene) and poly(ethylene/chlorotrifluoroethylene) to a moderate amount of ionizing radiation has the effect of improving the tensile properties, especially ultimate elongation, of the copolymers at elevated temperatures. The amount of radiation required to obtain this improvement is minimized by following the radiation treatment with heat treatment of the copolymer.
