Abstract A NONRETURN VALVE FOR LIQUIDS HAS A TAPERED END FORMED BY FLEXIBLE INCLINED WALLS TERMINATING IN A SLIT WHICH IS DEFINED BETWEEN TWO FLEXIBLE LIPS. A CONTINOUS RAISED RIB IS FORMED ON THE INTERNAL SURFACE OF ONE OF THE LIPS AND MAKES LINEAR SEALING CONTACT WITH A CORRESPONDING (FORCE) FACE OF THE OTHER LIP INWARDLY OF THE SLIT EFFECTIVELY TO CUT OFF FLOW THROUGH THE SLIT UPON CLOSURE OF THE VALVE.
