Abstract

Abstract Companies and other organizations store extensive datasets having overlapping data contents in different data base systems whose data base structures are incompatible with one another. The invention is concerned with the integration of such structurally incompatible data base systems, in particular with the data interchange between such systems. Various procedures are proposed which serve the purpose of combining such data base systems together such that problem-free data interchange is possible in both directions. In particular, the invention allows data shared across the system to be entered and changed in the different systems.

Claim 56
Dependent Claim 229 words
A database network system comprising: a source database system and a destination database system, each of the database systems providing unique identification of stored data objects using respective primary-key creation logic to generate a respective system-specific primary key for each data object, the primary-key creation logics of the two database systems being independent of one another; said database network system comparing a source database system primary-key for a data object to be transported from the source database system to the destination database system with a key mapping table in which are stored source system primary keys for all data objects for which both source database system primary keys and corresponding destination database system primary keys have been generated; said database network system, responsive to a determination that the source database system primary key is not in the key mapping table, automatically creating a destination database system primary key using a primary key generator, storing the destination database system primary key in the data object and in the key mapping table together with the source database system primary key; and said database network system, responsive to a determination that the source database system primary key of the source database system is_found in the key mapping table, storing the corresponding primary key of the destination database system in the data object, wherein the destination database system comprise a middleware server system.
