Abstract
Abstract Topically applicable cosmetic/dermatological compositions well suited for the persistent and water-resistant artificial tanning and/or darkening of human skin, comprise an effective artificial tanning/darkening amount of particulates of at least one iron oxide nanopigment, the mean size of the primary particles of which nanopigment particulates being less than 100 nm, the particulates of the at least one iron oxide nanopigment being formulated into a vehicle, diluent or carrier therefor which comprises a water-in-oil emulsion, advantageously a water-in-silicone emulsion, and the particulates comprising greater than 2% by weight of the total weight of such cosmetic/dermatological compositions.
