Claim 1
Independent Claim
62 words
A method using a cantilever to measure physical properties comprising the steps of bringing a tip provided at one end of a cantilever into contact with a sample and causing a vibrational force of a frequency between 10 and 1000 times a fundamental resonance frequency of the cantilever to act on the cantilever, thereby exciting higher order mode vibration in the cantilever.
Claim 2
Independent Claim
