Abstract
Abstract A cement restrictor is provided for creating a fixed obstruction within a bone. An exemplary cement restrictor includes a member or body that is expandable or transitionable from a first diameter to a second diameter.

A cement restrictor for creating a cement restriction within a bone, said cement restrictor comprising: a fluid impermeable configurable structure having a first configuration that has a first diameter with respect to a selected axis and a second configuration that has a second diameter with respect to the selected axis, the second diameter being greater than the first diameter, said structure for being inserted into an opening of said bone in said first configuration wherein the structure in the second configuration frictionally engages said bone opening to form a fluid impermeable barrier within said bone opening, and wherein the configurable structure includes shape memory material for transitioning the configurable structure to the second configuration.
