Abstract
Abstract A portable terminal has a portable terminal main body and an enclosure. If the enclosure is open, and if the portable terminal is in a communicating state after a power switch has been turned on, a memo mode is selected which makes it possible to take memos by input from a display panel using a pen. As a result, a memo-mode display image appears on the display, whereby it becomes possible to take memos during communication. In a portable terminal having a window formed in an enclosure, a normal-mode image is displayed as a result of the power switch being turned on even when the enclosure is closed. If the closure is open, and if the portable terminal is in a communicating state, the memo mode is selected.
