Abstract A rechargeable lithium battery comprising at least a cathode, a separator, an anode, and an electrolyte or electrolyte solution integrated in a battery housing, characterized in that said rechargeable lithium battery is provided with a pressure means comprising a polymer gel for pressing said anode and cathode.
