Abstract

Abstract According to the preferred embodiment of the present invention, an apparatus and method for integrating a user-defined instruction stream with a compiler-generated instruction stream is provided. The method can be implemented for a variety of source code types and target hardware platforms. The method comprises the steps of translating the compiler-generated instruction stream to a machine-dependent intermediate form, translating the user-defined instruction stream to a machine-dependent intermediate form, integrating the user-defined instruction stream with the compiler-generated instruction stream, and optimizing the integrated instruction stream.
