Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 16
Claim 1
Independent Claim 77 words
A method for treating urinary incontinence in a mammal, which method comprises delivering a composition comprising a biocompatible polymer, a biocompatible solvent, and a contrast agent to the periurethral tissue of the mammal wherein said biocompatible polymer has an equilibrium water content of less than about 15% water and further wherein said delivery is conducted under conditions such that a coherent polymeric mass forms in situ in the periurethral tissue thereby reducing urinary incontinence in the mammal.
Claim 2
Independent Claim 77 words
A method for treating urinary incontinence in a mammal, which method comprises delivering a composition comprising a biocompatible polymer, a biocompatible solvent, and a contrast agent to the periurethral tissue of the mammal wherein said biocompatible polymer has an equilibrium water content of less than about 15% water and further wherein said delivery is conducted under conditions such that a coherent polymeric mass forms in situ in the periurethral tissue thereby reducing urinary incontinence in the mammal.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 26 words
The method according to claim 1 wherein said biocompatible polymer is selected from the group consisting of cellulose acetate polymers, ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymers and polyacrylates.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 21 words
The method according to claim 2 wherein said biocompatible polymer is a cellulose acetate polymer or an ethylene vinyl alcohol copolymer.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 21 words
The method according to claim 1 wherein said biocompatible solvent is selected from the group consisting of dimethylsulfoxide, ethanol, and acetone.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 12 words
The method according to claim 4 wherein said biocompatible solvent is dimethylsulfoxide.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 16 words
The method according to claim 1 wherein said contrast agent is a water insoluble contrast agent.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 26 words
The method according to claim 6 wherein said water insoluble contrast agent is selected from the group consisting of tantalum, tantalum oxide, tungsten, and barium sulfate.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 16 words
The method according to claim 1 wherein said contrast agent is a water soluble contrast agent.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 14 words
The method according to claim 8 wherein said water soluble contrast agent is metrizamide.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 18 words
The method according to claim 1 wherein said composition is delivered into the periurethral tissue via a cystoscope.
Claim 12
Independent Claim 125 words
A method for the delivery of a composition comprising a biocompatible polymer, a biocompatible solvent, and a water insoluble contrast agent to the periurethral tissue of the mammal which tissue already has deposited therein with an initial amount of this composition which method comprises visualizing the position of the deposited composition in the periurethral tissue delivering a composition comprising a biocompatible polymer, a biocompatible solvent, and a contrast agent to the periurethral tissue of the mammal containing said deposited composition wherein said biocompatible polymer has an equilibrium water content of less than about 15% water and further wherein said delivery is conducted under conditions such that additional coherent polymeric mass forms in situ in the periurethral tissue thereby further reducing urinary incontinence in the mammal.
Claim 13
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 16 words
The method according to claim 11 wherein visualization is conducted by direct visualization, fluoroscopy or ultrasound.
Claim 15
Independent Claim 74 words
A method for treating urinary incontinence in a mammal, which method comprises delivering a composition comprising a biocompatible polymer and a biocompatible solvent to the periurethral tissue of the mammal wherein said biocompatible polymer has an equilibrium water content of less than about 15% water and further wherein said delivery is conducted under conditions such that a coherent polymeric mass forms in situ in the periurethral tissue thereby reducing urinary incontinence in the mammal.
Claim 16
Independent Claim 74 words
A method for treating urinary incontinence in a mammal, which method comprises delivering a composition comprising a biocompatible polymer and a biocompatible solvent to the periurethral tissue of the mammal wherein said biocompatible polymer has an equilibrium water content of less than about 15% water and further wherein said delivery is conducted under conditions such that a coherent polymeric mass forms in situ in the periurethral tissue thereby reducing urinary incontinence in the mammal.
