Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 8
Claim 1
Independent Claim
61 words
A scanning device for reading bar code symbols comprising: (a) a light source for generating a light beam; and (b) a sensor for detecting the intensity of reflected light from said light beam and generating an electrical signal proportional to the intensity of said reflected light; wherein said light source and sensor are integrally and exteriorly attached to a PCMCIA card.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
28 words
The scanning device of claim 1 further comprising signal processing means to receive said electrical signal and to produce a digitized signal corresponding to the bar code symbol.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
18 words
The scanning device of claim 2 wherein said signal processing means is located exteriorly to said PCMCIA card.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
17 words
The scanning device of claim 2 wherein said signal processing means is located on said PCMCIA card.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
24 words
The scanning device of claim 1 further comprising a scanner for scanning said light beam along a scan line across the bar code symbol.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
19 words
The scanning device of claim 1 further comprising an optical means for directing and focusing said beam of light.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
32 words
The scanning device of claim 2 further comprising a control circuit for de-energizing said light after said signal processing means has produced a digitized signal corresponding to a valid bar code symbol.
