Claim 1
Independent Claim
138 words
A method of providing a visual representation of a pathological condition in a living subject including: (a) moving a probe through a range of positions within the subject while determining the location of said probe within the subject at each position by monitoring magnetic fields transmitted to or from said probe; (b) during said moving step, measuring temperature at the probe by means of a transducer on said probe to thereby acquire measured values of temperature at a plurality of said positions; (c) correlating each said measured value of temperature with the location of said probe within the subject at the time such value was measured; and (d) displaying said measured temperature values in a pictorial display such that a representation of each value is presented at a location within the display corresponding to location within the subject.

A method of observing a lesion in a living subject including: (a) moving a probe through a range of positions within the subject while determining the location of said probe within the subject at each position by monitoring magnetic fields transmitted to or from said probe; (b) during said moving step, measuring temperature at the probe by means of a transducer on said probe to thereby acquire measured values of temperature at a plurality of said positions; (c) correlating each said measured value of temperature with the location of said probe within the subject at the time such value was measured; (d) displaying said measured temperature values in a pictorial display such that a representation of each value is presented at a location within the display corresponding to the location within the subject; and (e) viewing the size and shape of said lesion by examining said pictorial display.

103 words
A method of detecting a pathological condition in a living subject including: (a) moving a probe through a range of positions within the subject while determining the location of said probe within the subject at each position by monitoring magnetic fields transmitted to or from said probe; (b) during said moving step, measuring temperature at the probe by means of a transducer on said probe to thereby acquire measured values of temperature at a plurality of said positions; and (c) correlating each said measured value of temperature with the location of said probe within the subject at the time such value was measured.

Claim 7
Independent Claim
140 words
A method for intrabody mapping which comprises the steps of: (a) positioning a mapping probe bearing a sensor at a site adjacent to or within an organ or bodily structure; (b) determining the location of said site using a non-ionizing field transmitted to or from said mapping probe to thereby provide location information representing the location of said site; (c) sensing local information using the sensor on said mapping probe to thereby provide local information representing a physiological variable at said site, wherein sensing local information comprises sensing a local temperature value, whereby the local information and location information for said site constitute a data point for said site; and (d) repeating steps (a), (b) and (c) for a plurality of sites, whereby the data points for said plurality of sites define a map of said physiological variable versus location.
