Recording liquid and method for ink jet recording using same

Claim 2

A recording liquid which comprises carbon black, a water-soluble resin, a water-soluble organic solvent including polyhydric alcohol and/or its alkyl ether and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and water, wherein the amount of the dissolved water-soluble resin which is in a liquid medium without being adsorbed on a pigment in said recording liquid is not more than 2% by weight and the recording liquid further contains at least one of the dyes represented by the following general formulae (A) to (C): ##STR23## wherein R is --H, --COCH 3 , ##STR24## and M is Na, Li, K or ammonium; ##STR25## wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from --OCH 3 , --CH 3 , --NH 2 and --NHCOCH 3 , n is 0 or 1 and M is Na, Li, K, or ammonium; and ##STR26## wherein M is Na, K, Li or ammonium.

Claim 3

A recording liquid according to claim 1, wherein the content of the carbon black is in the range of 3 to 20% by weight on the basis of the total weight of the recording liquid.

Claim 4

A recording liquid according to claim 1, wherein the content of the dye is in the range of 0.5 to 2.0% by weight on the basis of the total weight of the recording liquid.

Claim 5

A recording liquid according to claim 1, wherein the content of the aliphatic monohydric alcohol is in the range of 3 to 15% by weight on the basis of the total weight of the recording liquid.

Claim 6

A recording liquid according to claim 1, wherein the content of the polyhydric alcohol and/or its alkyl ether is in the range of 10 to 15% by weight on the basis of the total weight of the recording liquid.

Claim 7

A recording liquid according to claim 1, wherein the aliphatic monohydric alcohol is ethyl alcohol.

Claim 10

A method according to claim 7, wherein the content of the carbon black is in the range of 3 to 20% by weight on the basis of the total weight of the recording liquid.

Claim 11

A method according to claim 7, wherein the content of the dye is in the range of 0.5 to 2.0% by weight on the basis of the total weight of the recording liquid.

Claim 12

A method according to claim 7, wherein the content of the aliphatic monohydric alcohol is in the range of 3 to 15% by weight on the basis of the total weight of the recording liquid.

Claim 13

A method according to claim 7, wherein the content of the polyhydric alcohol and/or its alkyl ether is in the range of 10 to 50% by weight on the basis of the total weight of the recording liquid.

Claim 14

A method according to claim 7, wherein the aliphatic monohydric alcohol is ethyl alcohol.

Claim 15

A method according to claim 7, wherein the water-soluble resin has an acid value of 50 to 300.

Claim 16

A method according to claim 7, wherein the water-soluble resin has an acid value of 70 to 250.

Claim 17

A recording liquid which comprises carbon black, a water-soluble resin, a water-soluble organic solvent including polyhydric alcohol and/or its alkyl ether and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and water, wherein the water-soluble resin has an acid value of 50 to 300, the amount of the dissolved water-soluble resin which is in a liquid medium without being adsorbed on a pigment in said recording liquid is not more than 2% by weight and the recording liquid further contains at least one of the dyes represented by the following general formulae (A) to (C): ##STR31## wherein R is --H, --COCH 3 , ##STR32## and M is Na, Li, K or ammonium; ##STR33## wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from --OCH 3 , --CH 3 , --NH 2 and --NHCOCH 3 , n is 0 or 1 and M is Na, Li, K, or ammonium; and ##STR34## wherein M is Na, K, Li or ammonium.

Claim 18

A recording liquid which comprises carbon black, a water-soluble resin, a water-soluble organic solvent including polyhydric alcohol and/or its alkyl ether and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and water, wherein the water-soluble resin has an acid value of 50 to 300, the amount of the dissolved water-soluble resin which is in a liquid medium without being adsorbed on a pigment in said recording liquid is not more than 2% by weight and the recording liquid further contains at least one of the dyes represented by the following general formulae (A) to (C): ##STR31## wherein R is --H, --COCH 3 , ##STR32## and M is Na, Li, K or ammonium; ##STR33## wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from --OCH 3 , --CH 3 , --NH 2 and --NHCOCH 3 , n is 0 or 1 and M is Na, Li, K, or ammonium; and ##STR34## wherein M is Na, K, Li or ammonium.

Claim 19

A recording liquid according to claim 15, wherein the content of the carbon black is in the range of 3 to 20% by weight on the basis of the total weight of the recording liquid.

Claim 20

A recording liquid according to claim 15, wherein the content of the dye is in the range of 0.5 to 2.0% by weight on the basis of the total weight of the recording liquid.

Claim 21

A recording liquid according to claim 15, wherein the content of the aliphatic monohydric alcohol is in the range of 3 to 15% by weight on the basis of the total weight of the recording liquid.

Claim 22

A recording liquid according to claim 15, wherein the content of the polyhydric alcohol and/or its alkyl ether is in the range of 10 to 15% by weight on the basis of the total weight of the recording liquid.

Claim 23

A recording unit having an ink container for holding a recording liquid and a head portion for ejecting the recording liquid as liquid droplets, said recording liquid comprising carbon black, a water-soluble resin, a water-soluble organic solvent including polyhydric alcohol and/or its alkyl ether and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and water, wherein the amount of the dissolved water-soluble resin which is in a liquid medium without being adsorbed on a pigment in said recording liquid is not more than 2% by weight and the recording liquid further containing at least one of the dyes represented by the following general formulae (A) to (C): ##STR35## wherein R is --H, --COCH 3 , ##STR36## and M is Na, Li, K or ammonium; ##STR37## wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from --OCH 3 , --CH 3 , --NH 2 and --NHCOCH 3 , n is 0 or 1 and M is Na, Li, K, or ammonium; and ##STR38## wherein M is Na, K, Li or ammonium.

Claim 24

A recording unit having an ink container for holding a recording liquid and a head portion for ejecting the recording liquid as liquid droplets, said recording liquid comprising carbon black, a water-soluble resin, a water-soluble organic solvent including polyhydric alcohol and/or its alkyl ether and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and water, wherein the amount of the dissolved water-soluble resin which is in a liquid medium without being adsorbed on a pigment in said recording liquid is not more than 2% by weight and the recording liquid further containing at least one of the dyes represented by the following general formulae (A) to (C): ##STR35## wherein R is --H, --COCH 3 , ##STR36## and M is Na, Li, K or ammonium; ##STR37## wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from --OCH 3 , --CH 3 , --NH 2 and --NHCOCH 3 , n is 0 or 1 and M is Na, Li, K, or ammonium; and ##STR38## wherein M is Na, K, Li or ammonium.

Claim 25

A recording unit of claim 20, wherein the head portion ejects liquid droplets by the action of thermal energy on the recording liquid.

Claim 26

A recording unit of claim 20, wherein the ink container comprises an ink absorption member.

Claim 27

A recording unit of claim 20, wherein the ink absorption member is formed from polyurethane.

Claim 28

An ink cartridge having an ink container for holding a recording liquid, said recording liquid comprising carbon black, a water-soluble resin, a water-soluble organic solvent including polyhydric alcohol and/or its alkyl ether and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and water, wherein the amount of the dissolved water-soluble resin which is in a liquid medium without being adsorbed on a pigment in said recording liquid is not more than 2% by weight and the recording liquid further containing at least one of the dyes represented by the following general formulae (A) to (C): ##STR39## wherein R is --H, --COCH 3 , ##STR40## and M is Na, Li, K or ammonium; ##STR41## wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from --OCH 3 , --CH 3 , --NH 2 and --NHCOCH 3 , n is 0 or 1 and M is Na, Li, K, or ammonium; and ##STR42## wherein M is Na, K, Li or ammonium.

Claim 29

An ink cartridge having an ink container for holding a recording liquid, said recording liquid comprising carbon black, a water-soluble resin, a water-soluble organic solvent including polyhydric alcohol and/or its alkyl ether and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and water, wherein the amount of the dissolved water-soluble resin which is in a liquid medium without being adsorbed on a pigment in said recording liquid is not more than 2% by weight and the recording liquid further containing at least one of the dyes represented by the following general formulae (A) to (C): ##STR39## wherein R is --H, --COCH 3 , ##STR40## and M is Na, Li, K or ammonium; ##STR41## wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from --OCH 3 , --CH 3 , --NH 2 and --NHCOCH 3 , n is 0 or 1 and M is Na, Li, K, or ammonium; and ##STR42## wherein M is Na, K, Li or ammonium.

Claim 30

An ink cartridge of claim 24, wherein the ink container is a bag structure.

Claim 31

An ink cartridge of claim 24, wherein the ink container has a liquid-contact face formed of polyolefin.

Claim 32

An ink-jet recording apparatus comprising a recording unit having an ink container for holding a recording liquid and a head portion for ejecting the recording liquid as liquid droplets, said recording liquid comprising carbon black, a water-soluble resin, a water-soluble organic solvent including polyhydric alcohol and/or its alkyl ether and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and water, wherein the amount of the dissolved water-soluble resin which is in a liquid medium without being adsorbed on a pigment in said recording liquid is not more than 2% by weight and said recording liquid further containing at least one of the dyes represented by the following general formulae (A) to (C): ##STR43## wherein R is --H, --COCH 3 , ##STR44## and M is Na, Li, K or ammonium; ##STR45## wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from --OCH 3 , --CH 3 , --NH 2 and --NHCOCH 3 , n is 0 or 1 and M is Na, Li, K, or ammonium; and ##STR46## wherein M is Na, K, Li or ammonium.

Claim 33

An ink-jet recording apparatus comprising a recording unit having an ink container for holding a recording liquid and a head portion for ejecting the recording liquid as liquid droplets, said recording liquid comprising carbon black, a water-soluble resin, a water-soluble organic solvent including polyhydric alcohol and/or its alkyl ether and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and water, wherein the amount of the dissolved water-soluble resin which is in a liquid medium without being adsorbed on a pigment in said recording liquid is not more than 2% by weight and said recording liquid further containing at least one of the dyes represented by the following general formulae (A) to (C): ##STR43## wherein R is --H, --COCH 3 , ##STR44## and M is Na, Li, K or ammonium; ##STR45## wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from --OCH 3 , --CH 3 , --NH 2 and --NHCOCH 3 , n is 0 or 1 and M is Na, Li, K, or ammonium; and ##STR46## wherein M is Na, K, Li or ammonium.

Claim 34

An ink-jet recording apparatus of claim 27, wherein the head portion ejects liquid droplets by the action of thermal energy on the recording liquid.

Claim 35

An ink-jet recording apparatus of claim 27, wherein the ink container comprises an ink absorption member.

Claim 36

An ink-jet recording apparatus of claim 29, wherein the ink absorption member is formed from polyurethane.

Claim 37

An ink-jet recording apparatus comprising a recording head for ejecting the recording liquid as liquid droplets, an ink cartridge having an ink container for holding a recording liquid and an ink supplying portion for supplying the recording liquid to the recording head from the ink cartridge, said recording liquid comprising carbon black, a water-soluble resin, a water-soluble organic solvent including polyhydric alcohol and/or its alkyl ether and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and water, wherein the amount of the dissolved water-soluble resin which is in a liquid medium without being adsorbed on a pigment in said recording liquid is not more than 2% by weight and the recording liquid further containing at least one of the dyes represented by the following general formulae (A) to (C): ##STR47## wherein R is --H, --COCH 3 , ##STR48## and M is Na, Li, K or ammonium; ##STR49## wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from --OCH 3 , --CH 3 , --NH 2 and --NHCOCH 3 , n is 0 or 1 and M is Na, Li, K, or ammonium; and ##STR50## wherein M is Na, K, Li or ammonium.

Claim 38

An ink-jet recording apparatus comprising a recording head for ejecting the recording liquid as liquid droplets, an ink cartridge having an ink container for holding a recording liquid and an ink supplying portion for supplying the recording liquid to the recording head from the ink cartridge, said recording liquid comprising carbon black, a water-soluble resin, a water-soluble organic solvent including polyhydric alcohol and/or its alkyl ether and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and water, wherein the amount of the dissolved water-soluble resin which is in a liquid medium without being adsorbed on a pigment in said recording liquid is not more than 2% by weight and the recording liquid further containing at least one of the dyes represented by the following general formulae (A) to (C): ##STR47## wherein R is --H, --COCH 3 , ##STR48## and M is Na, Li, K or ammonium; ##STR49## wherein R 1 and R 2 are independently selected from --OCH 3 , --CH 3 , --NH 2 and --NHCOCH 3 , n is 0 or 1 and M is Na, Li, K, or ammonium; and ##STR50## wherein M is Na, K, Li or ammonium.

Claim 39

An ink-jet recording apparatus of claim 31, wherein the recording head ejects liquid droplets by the action of thermal energy on the recording liquid.

An ink-jet recording apparatus of claim 31, wherein the ink container is a bag structure.

Claim 41

An ink-jet recording apparatus of claim 31, wherein the ink container has a liquid-contact face formed of polyolefin.

Claim 42

A recording liquid which comprises (1) carbon black, (2) a water-soluble dye, (3) a water-soluble resin, (4) a water-soluble organic solvent including a polyhydric alcohol and/or an alkyl ether thereof and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and (5) water, wherein the amount of the dissolved water-soluble resin which is in a liquid medium without being adsorbed on a pigment in said recording liquid is not more than 2% by weight.

Claim 43

A recording liquid which comprises (1) carbon black, (2) a water-soluble dye, (3) a water-soluble resin, (4) a water-soluble organic solvent including a polyhydric alcohol and/or an alkyl ether thereof and an aliphatic monohydric alcohol, and (5) water, wherein the amount of the dissolved water-soluble resin which is in a liquid medium without being adsorbed on a pigment in said recording liquid is not more than 2% by weight.
