Claims Analysis
Total Claims: 5
Claim 1
Independent Claim
56 words
A method for replacing a disc in the spine of a patient, the disc having a width in a plane perpendicular to the sagittal plane, the method comprising removing the disc and inserting side by side into the resulting disc space a plurality of implants having a combined width approximating the width of the disc space.
Claim 2
Independent Claim
56 words
A method for replacing a disc in the spine of a patient, the disc having a width in a plane perpendicular to the sagittal plane, the method comprising removing the disc and inserting side by side into the resulting disc space a plurality of implants having a combined width approximating the width of the disc space.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
19 words
The method of claim 1 in which said implants are inserted into the disc space one at a time.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
18 words
The method of claim 1 in which said implants are made of a material that promotes bone ingrowth.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
18 words
The method of claim 1 including the step of inserting autogenous bone material within said implant before implanting.
