Abstract

Abstract Implantable mechanical system for assisting blood circulation using a blood circulation pump and wherein the system, being actuated by the power produced by the linear contraction of the skeletal muscle, comprises for its two-phase application: a combined prosthesis defining the bio-mechanical coupling between the skeletal muscle and the implantable mechanical system; a muscle action force multiplier transmitting force through a lever system driving compression plates of the blood chamber formed into the pump; the biomechanical coupling, the force multiplier and the lever system forming a functional unit interconnected by means of lead wires for transmiting movement; the system further comprising a device for measuring force and the displacement of the skeletal muscle driving the pump, during the electro-stimulation period through the system.
