Abstract

Abstract An electrically heatable honeycomb body through which a fluid can flow, in particular a carrier body for a catalytic converter, includes a plurality of subregions through which a current can flow over a winding path. The subregions have a first specific electrical conductivity per unit of cross-sectional area. Electrical insulation at least partially separates the subregions from one another. Additional electric conductor elements are disposed in regions in which the electric current is turned around. The additional electric conductor elements are formed of a material having a greater mechanical strength than that of the subregions and have a second specific electrical conductivity per unit of cross-sectional area being higher than the first specific electrical conductivity per unit of cross-sectional area.
