Abstract
Abstract A silver halide color photosensitive materials wherein a coupler represented by the formula indicated below is included in at least one layer on a support. In the formula, for example, Za represents --NH--, Zb represents --C(R 4 )═ and Zc represents --N═. R 1 , R 2 and R 3 each represents an electron withdrawing group of which the Hammett substituent group constant σ p value is 0.20 or above. However, the sum of the σ p values of R 1 and R 2 is 0.65 or above. R 4 , R a , R b , R c , R d and R e each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent group. However, for example at least one of R a , R b , R c , R d and R e represents an electron withdrawing group, and the sum of the Hammett substituent group constant σ p values of each of R a , R b , R c , R d and R e is 0.5 or above. ##STR1##

A silver halide color photosensitive material comprising a support having thereon a layer containing a coupler represented by formula (I) below: ##STR52## wherein Za represents --NH-- or --CH(R 3 )--, and Zb and Zc each represents --C(R 4 )═ or --N═; when Zb is --C(R 4 )═, Zc is not --C(R 4 )═ at the same time as Za is --NH-- and Zc is not --N═ at the same time as Za is --CH(R 3 ); R 1 , R 2 and R 3 each represents an electron withdrawing group of which the Hammett substituent group constant σ p is 0.20 or above, the sum of the up values of R 1 and R 2 is 0.65 or above; R 4 , R a , R b , R c , R d and R e each represents a hydrogen atom or a substituent group; when there are two R 4 groups in formula (I) these may be the same or different; at least one of R a , R b , R c , R d and R e represents an electron withdrawing group; and the sum of the respective Hammett substituent groups constant σ p values of R a , R b , R c , R d and R e is 0.5 or above, or at least two of R a , R b , R c , R d and R e are fluorine atoms and the sum of the respective Hammett substituent group constant σ p values of R a , R b , R c , R d and R e is 0.15 or above.
