Abstract

Abstract An image processing method and apparatus in which image data is divided into blocks each containing a plurality of pixels and is coded and decoded on the basis of such blocks. When the image data is enlarged or reduced, enlargement is conducted before the coding and decoding, while reduction is performed after coding and decoding, whereby quantization errors caused by the coding and decoding is minimized.
