Abstract
Abstract A marker pencil comprises a gel-like water-bearing pencil material enclosed in a casing and incorporating a dye carrier. The structure-forming constituents of the pencil material include water-soluble metal soaps and saccharides and/or polyols derived therefrom by reduction. As a further alternative constituent the pencil material may include a fatty substance.

A marker pencil comprising a casing and a marking pencil material enclosed in the casing, wherein the pencil material comprises: a dye carrier; structure forming constituents comprising at least one water soluble metal soap in an amount of between about 5% to about 40% by weight of the pencil material, and at least one member selected from the group consisting of monosaccharides, oligosaccharides and polyols derived therefrom by reduction, in an amount of between about 5% to about 50% by weight of the pencil material; and water in an amount of between about 15% to about 65% by weight of the pencil material.
