Abstract

Abstract A shift register of a CCD line image sensor is divided into two from the center thereof so as to transfer the signal electrical charge for output portions placed on both ends of the sensor, so that the line image sensor has a higher data rate, and reduced optical smearing. Furthermore, when a color line image sensor has been made using such line image sensors, the clearance of the sensor may be made smaller, and the amount of the correction smear for positioning alignment may be reduced.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 106 words
A line image sensor comprising: a light receiving portion arranged in a line in a major scanning direction; a plurality of light receiving elements for converting a projected light into an electrical signal; two transfer portions each divided in two and located in one line in said major scanning direction for transferring said electrical signal of said receiving elements; and two output portions for outputting an electrical signal of said two transfer portions, said two output portions being connected to an end plane which is facing away from said two transfer portions, whereby said two transfer portions transfer a detected signal toward said two output portions.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 106 words
A line image sensor comprising: a light receiving portion arranged in a line in a major scanning direction; a plurality of light receiving elements for converting a projected light into an electrical signal; two transfer portions each divided in two and located in one line in said major scanning direction for transferring said electrical signal of said receiving elements; and two output portions for outputting an electrical signal of said two transfer portions, said two output portions being connected to an end plane which is facing away from said two transfer portions, whereby said two transfer portions transfer a detected signal toward said two output portions.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 29 words
A line image sensor as defined in claim 1, wherein a plurality of line image sensors are arranged in parallel so as to constituted a color line image sensor.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 34 words
A line image sensor as defined in claim 2, wherein two light receiving portions selected from among said light receiving portions of said plurality of line image sensors are aligned adjacent to each other.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 110 words
A line image sensor comprising: a light receiving portion arranged in a line in a major scanning direction; a plurality of light receiving elements for converting a projected light into an electrical signal; four transfer portions each divided in two and located on both sides of said light receiving portion in said major scanning direction for transferring said electrical signal of said receiving elements; four output portions for outputting an electrical signal of said four transfer portions, said four output portions being connected to an end plane which is facing away from said four transfer portions, whereby said four transfer portions transfer a detected signal toward said four output portions.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 110 words
A line image sensor comprising: a light receiving portion arranged in a line in a major scanning direction; a plurality of light receiving elements for converting a projected light into an electrical signal; four transfer portions each divided in two and located on both sides of said light receiving portion in said major scanning direction for transferring said electrical signal of said receiving elements; four output portions for outputting an electrical signal of said four transfer portions, said four output portions being connected to an end plane which is facing away from said four transfer portions, whereby said four transfer portions transfer a detected signal toward said four output portions.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 29 words
A line image sensor as defined in claim 4, wherein a plurality of line image sensors are arranged in parallel so as to constitute a color line image sensor.
