Abstract

Abstract A method and related system for use in producing a representation of acoustical impedances of body materials, such as for use in ultrasonic imaging of a body for diagnostic purposes. In the method, at least one Letcher Wavelet (L M ) of ultrasonic energy is introduced into the body to be diagnosed. The reflections of the ultrasonic energy are received by a transducer and sent to a CPU for transformation. The received reflections are transformed, using a technique cooperative with the characteristics of the L M wavelet, to produce a representation of the acoustical impedances from the body materials. Such representation can be in the form of data, graphical or an image, such as on a CRT. Further, the representation can be in the form of the density of the body materials or the velocity of sound through the body materials.
