Abstract
Abstract A catalyst for polymerizing an aromatic vinyl compound, having the formula (I): ##STR1## where M is an element of Group IVa; X 1 is a halogen; R 1 , R 2 , R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , R 6 and R 7 are independently hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 6 carbon atoms; R 8 is hydrogen or an alkyl group having 1 to 5 carbon atoms; m is an integer of from 1 to 6; and n is an integer of from 4 to 60. The vinyl polymer produced has predominantly a syndiotactic structure.
