Abstract
Abstract A method for testing and comparing the access times of disk drives in a real time system containing a multiplicity of likes drives. The method includes the steps of generating random locations for each of the drives to access, initializing each of the drives to a common position, determining the time period for each of the drives to find and read the random locations, comparing the differences in the time periods to a threshold value, and declaring a fault upon detecting any of the differences exceeding the said threshold.
