Abstract

Abstract An apparatus for sensing rotation of a rotary member comprising a fixed sensor, the sensor being stationary relative to the rotary member. An encoder rotates with the rotary member and is disposed adjacent the sensor. A biasing member for biasing the encoder is in close proximity into the sensor. The sensor may be a Hall effect sensor or a magnetic resistive sensor. The biasing member may be a well known biasing device such as a spring washer, a magnetic device, a hydraulic or pneumatic device.
