Abstract

Abstract A cathode ray tube (CRT) having a surface with reduced gloss and reflectivity and a method for providing such reduced gloss and reflectivity. In the method of the invention, a solution of a silane and a saturated hydrocarbon in a solvent system of an alcohol and water is provided. The solution is applied to the surface of a cathode ray tube to impart antiglare properties to the surface. Thereafter, the CRT with the silane applied is cured at an elevated temperature for a period of time sufficient to cause the silane to react and be converted to siloxane.
