Abstract
Abstract A piezoelectric resonator of an energy-trapped type utilizing a second harmonic wave of the thickness-extensional vibration mode, in which an inner electrode is formed in a position at a height around the center of a piezoelectric substrate in the direction of thickness, outer electrodes are formed on both major surfaces of the piezoelectric substrate so as to be opposed to the inner electrode through a piezoelectric substrate portion, and the dimension of at least one of the outer electrodes in the direction of the length of the inner electrode is made smaller than the dimension of the outer electrode in the direction of the width of the inner electrode.
