Abstract

Abstract An image forming solvent applying device for applying an image forming solvent, for example, water, to a recording material whereby the recording material is immersed in the image forming solvent and bubbles or dust are wiped from the surface of the recording material. The solvent is supplied into a lower guide member which cooperates with an upper guide member to guide the recording material through the solvent. The two guide members each have a plurality of ribs extending obliquely with respect to a direction of movement of the recording material such that the ribs wipe the entire area of the recording material at least once as viewed in a widthwise direction of the recording material perpendicular to its direction of movement as it is conveyed along the ribs.
