A composition for the treatment of inorganic, oxidic material comprising waterproofing and antimicrobial effective amounts of: (a) (RO) 3 Si-R 1 (I) in which: R represents C 1 -C 4 -alkyl R 1 represents C 1 -C 18 -alkyl (b) A cationic trialkoxy silane of the general formula ##STR2## in which: R 2 represents C 1 -C 3 -alkylene or --CH 2 --CH 2 ----CH 2 R 3 , R 4 , R 5 , which may be the same or different from each other, represent C 1 -C 18 -alkyl X represents Cl 31 , Br - , NO 3 - , I - , CH 3 COO - , and/or an organosilicon compound of the general formula (RO).sub.3 Si-R.sup.2 -S-SnR.sup.6.sub.3 (III) in which R 6 represents C 1 -C 6 -alkyl or aryl or fusion products of (a) and/or (b).
