Abstract

Abstract An enzyme electrode is prepared by a process wherein an albumin solution containing 0.05 to 0.5% by weight of a multifunctional aldehyde is applied onto the surface of an electroconductive substrate while maintaining the atmospheric temperature at 0° to 20° C. to thereby form a crosslinked albumin layer on the surface of the electroconductive substrate. Thereafter a solution containing 0.5% by weight or less of a multifunctional aldehyde and a predetermined amount of an oxidase capable of producing hydrogen peroxide (H 2 O 2 ) is applied on the surface of the previously formed crosslinked albumin layer to form a H 2 O 2 productive oxidase containing layer.
