Abstract
Abstract A recording medium comprising at least one electron donating colorless dye and at least one electron accepting compound, wherein the electron accepting compound is a salicylic acid compound represented by formula (I): <IMAGE> (I) wherein R represents a divalent group; X and Y, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen aotm, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxy group, or a halogen atom; and Z represents a hydrogen atom, a carboxyl group, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxy group, or a halogen atom, or a metal salt thereof.

A recording material comprising a support having thereon at least one electron donating colorless dye and at least one electron accepting compound, wherein the electron accepting compound is a salicylic acid compound represented by formula (I): ##STR10## wherein R represents ##STR11## wherein R 11 represents ##STR12## wherein R 21 and R 22 , which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, a halogen atom, an aryl group, or a hydroxyl group; and R 23 represents an alkylene group or an aralkylene group; R 12 and R 13 each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, or an aryl group, provided that R 12 and R 13 do not simultaneously represent a hydrogen atom; R 16 and R 17 each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, or an aryl group, provided that at least one of them is an aryl group and that the sum of the carbon atom number of R 16 and R 17 is 7 or more; R 14 represents a hydrogen atom or an organic residual group; and R 15 represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group, or a halogen atom; X and Y, which may be the same or different, each represents a hydrogen atom, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxy group, or a halogen atom; and Z represents a hydrogen atom, a carboxyl group, an alkyl group, an aryl group, an alkoxy group, or a halogen atom, or a metal salt thereof.
