Claim 1
Independent Claim
105 words
An assembly comprising a member, having a recess, connected by a connector to a component having an outwardly presented surface part, the connector comprising at least one pair of discrete elements pivotally joined together by a pivotal joint means, each element having a female part and a male part which co-operate, respectively, to provide the connector with a female portion in which said surface part of the component is received and a male portion which is engaged in the recess of the member, said pivotal joint means comprising releasably interengaging formations provided on the female parts of the elements of said at least one pair.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim
Claim 3
Dependent Claim
36 words
An assembly according to claim 1 wherein the male parts are arranged so that said engagement in the recess of the or each member causes the elements to clamp said surface part between the female parts.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim
50 words
An assembly according to claim 2 wherein the elements clamp said surface part therebetween as a result of pivotal movement permitted by said pivotal joint means caused by urging of the male parts of the elements towards each other as a result of engagement thereof in the or each recess.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim
43 words
An assembly according to claim 1 wherein the recess is disposed so as to extend axially inwardly at one end of the member and, when the member is tubular, the recess being provided by an end part of the bore of the tube.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim
20 words
An assembly according to claim 1 wherein said pivotal joint means comprises at least one re-entrant tongue and interengaging recess.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim
26 words
An assembly according to claim 5 wherein one element has a single re-entrant tongue and the other element a single recess for interengaging with said tongue.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim
28 words
An assembly according to claim 5 wherein each element has at least one re-entrant tongue and at least one recess to interengage with a tongue of another element.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim
44 words
An assembly according to claim 1 wherein the male part extends at right angles from a middle region of the female part so that the longitudinal axes of the male and female parts of the connector in the assembly intersect and are mutually perpendicular.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim
52 words
An assembly according to claim 1 wherein the female parts are of a configuration so as to be an interference fit with the component when the male parts of the elements are disposed so that the longitudinal axes thereof are parallel and the adjacent edges of the male parts are spaced apart.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim
151 words
An assembly comprising a member, having a recess, connected by a connector to a component having an outwardly presented surface part, the connector comprising at least one pair of elements pivotally joined together by a pivotal joint means, each element having a female part and a male part which co-operate, respectively, to provide the connector with a female portion in which said surface part of the component is received and a male portion which is engaged in the recess of the member, wherein the female parts are of a configuration so as to be an interference fit with the component, when the male parts of the elements are disposed so that the longitudinal axes thereof are parallel and the adjacent edges of the male parts are spaced apart, and the male parts are shaped so as to engage the recess at positions to restrain relative transverse movement in all radial planes.
Claim 12
Claim 13
Dependent Claim
111 words
An assembly according to claim 10 wherein the male parts have an axially extending portion which is of semi-cylindrical external shape, the axis of the semi-cylinder being disposed on the diametric plane of the semi-cylinder and the axes of said portions being spaced apart when the axes are parallel and therebeing substantially radially extending projections lying substantially in a diametric plane of the semi-cylinder to provide abutment portions for engagement with said recess, the projections of the male parts and a middle part of said semi-cylindrical portions, when the axes are parallel, substantially lying on a circle of a diameter substantially equal to that of the internal diameter of the recess.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim
179 words
An assembly comprising a member, having a recess, connected by a connector to a component having an outwardly presented surface part, the connector comprising at least one pair of elements pivotally joined together by a pivotal joint means, each element having a female part and a male part which co-operate, respectively, to provide the connector with a female portion in which said surface part of the component is received and a male portion which is engaged in the recess of the member, wherein the assembly comprises at least one further member the or each of which has a recess, the connector comprising a plurality of pairs of elements, the number of pairs being equal to the number of members, and the elements of each pair being pivotally joined together by pivotal joint means, each element having a female part and a male part which co-operate, respectively, to provide the connector with a female portion in which said surface part of the component is received and a plurality of male portions which are engaged in the recesses of the members.
