Abstract
Abstract Devices for and method of generating coherent second harmonic light radiation. The devices comprise a laser source of coherent light radiation at a fixed fundamental frequency,a Schiff base compound, means for directing the output radiation of the laser onto the Schiff base compound, and output means for utilizing the second harmonic frequency. Preferably, one moiety of the Schiff base compound has a hyperpolarizable group and the other moiety of the Schiff base compound has a configuration so that the compound crystallizes in a non-centrosymmetric configuration.
