Abstract

Abstract A photosensor for an image reading apparatus includes a light-transmissive substrate, a light shielding layer arranged on a portion of the surface of the substrate, and a photosensor formed over the light shielding layer. Protective layers are arranged on the surface of the photosensor. Light shielding structure is provided on the sides of the substrate and/or the sides of the protective layers to prevent stray light from entering the side of the photosensor.
