Abstract

Abstract A tracking miss control system for a disk player can be used in which small track misses purposely are not detected. The allowable range of the returning operation is increased with the frequency of the tracking miss. Thus, when the frequency of the tracking miss is high, track misses will be detected with a larger tolerance than when the frequency of the tracking miss is low.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 14
Claim 1
Independent Claim 60 words
A disk playing method for a disk player, comprising the steps of: detecting a tracking miss that is not within a predetermined tolerance; and varying said predetermined tolerance in an amount corresponding to a difference between an address actually read and an expected address used in said tracking miss detection according to a frequency of occurrence of said tracking miss.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 60 words
A disk playing method for a disk player, comprising the steps of: detecting a tracking miss that is not within a predetermined tolerance; and varying said predetermined tolerance in an amount corresponding to a difference between an address actually read and an expected address used in said tracking miss detection according to a frequency of occurrence of said tracking miss.
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 25 words
A disk playing method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said predetermined tolerance is increased when the frequency of occurrence of the tracking miss increases.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 25 words
A disk playing method as claimed in claim 2, wherein said predetermined tolerance is decreased when the frequency of occurrence of the tracking miss decreases.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 34 words
A disk playing method as claimed in claim 1, further comprising the step of returning a pickup of said disk player to an address of data to be reproduced in response to said detection.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 18 words
A disk playing method as claimed in claim 1, wherein said disk player is mounted in a vehicle.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 21 words
A disk playing method as claimed in claim 5, wherein said tracking miss occurs due to external vibration from said vehicle.
Claim 8
Dependent Claim 56 words
A disk player, comprising: means for detecting a tracking miss that is not within a predetermined tolerance; and means for varying said predetermined tolerance in an amount corresponding to a difference between an address actually read and an expected address used in said tracking miss detection according to a frequency of occurrence of said tracking miss.
Claim 9
Dependent Claim 56 words
A disk player, comprising: means for detecting a tracking miss that is not within a predetermined tolerance; and means for varying said predetermined tolerance in an amount corresponding to a difference between an address actually read and an expected address used in said tracking miss detection according to a frequency of occurrence of said tracking miss.
Claim 10
Dependent Claim 24 words
A disk player as claimed in claim 7, wherein said predetermined tolerance is increased when the frequency of occurrence of the tracking miss decreases.
Claim 11
Dependent Claim 24 words
A disk player as claimed in claim 8, wherein said predetermined tolerance is decreased when the frequency of occurrence of the tracking miss decreases.
Claim 12
Dependent Claim 32 words
A disk player as claimed in claim 7, further comprising: means for returning a pickup of said player to an address of data to be reproduced in response to said detection means.
Claim 13
Dependent Claim 17 words
A disk player as claimed in claim 7, wherein said disk player is mounted in a vehicle.
Claim 14
Dependent Claim 20 words
A disk player as claimed in claim 11, wherein said tracking miss occurs due to external vibration from said vehicle.
