Abstract

Abstract Monohalogenated cyclobutarenes are prepared by halogenating a cyclobutarene in the presence of an organic complexing agent, an acid scavenger, or water. Faster reaction rates highly selective to monohalogenated cyclobutarenes are obtained without conventional heavy metal or halogen catalysts.
