Abstract

Abstract A photosensitive member of the present invention comprises an electrically conductive substrate, a photosensitive layer comprising an organic material and a hydrogen-containing amorphous carbon overcoat layer containing one or more elements selected from the group consisting of chalcogen and elements in Group III, IV and V of the periodic table. The overcoat layer contains hydrogen in an amount of about 30 to about 60 atomic % based on the combined amount of hydrogen atoms and carbon atoms.
