Abstract
Abstract A data processing apparatus comprises a document memory which stores a document, and a type style in which the document should be printed out is designated. The document may also be edited. The document memory further stores a code to discriminate the designated type style. An external character generator ROM which stores a type style in which the document can be printed out may be connected to the apparatus. When a CPU detects that the external ROM is connected to the apparatus, the document is printed out in the type style stored in the external ROM in spite of the designated type style. When the CPU detects that no external ROM is connected to the apparatus, the document may be printed out in a type style stored in an internal character generator ROM incorporated in the apparatus.
