Abstract

Abstract A magnetic recording apparatus such as a still video recording or an electronic camera includes a circuit for detecting a video signal immediately previously recorded on a track of a video disk to detect whether or not dropout exists in the video signal. Upon the detection of dropout, the recorded track is erased and the identical video signal is re-recorded on the same track. While the track is erased and re-recorded upon, dust or other foreign matter causing the dropout will be naturally removed from a magnetic recording head or the video disk so that the re-recorded signal is dropout free.
