Abstract
Abstract A process for the preparation of linear low density polyethylene by the copolymerization of ethylene and 1-butene which comprises contacting ethylene with a feedstock comprising 1-butene in the presence of a catalyst comprising: (a) a solid supported titanium tetrahalide complex, wherein said complex is prepared by contacting a mechanically pulverized solid support with titanium tetrahalide in the absence of mechanical pulverization, and (b) a cocatalyst comprising a mixture of dialkyl aluminum halide and a dialkyl magnesium or alkyl lithium compound.
