Abstract

Abstract Disclosed is an air filtration and filter mounting system. The system includes a clean air plenum having a wall with an inlet opening therein. A pair of substantially parallel tension bars are connected to and extend perpendicular to the plenum wall spaced on opposite sides of the plenum inlet. A gimbal plate is slidingly mounted on the tension bars. A filter element is positioned between the tension bars and between the gimbal plate and the plenum wall about the inlet opening. A clamping bar is fixedly connected to the tension bars outward of the gimbal plate and a screw is threadedly engaged with the clamping bar to urge the gimbal plate into clamping engagement with the filter element.

Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 224 words
An expendable, permanently segmented bore filter element comprising: a hollow cylindrical filter body circumscribing an axis and adapted to filter particulate matter from fluid flowed laterally inwardly through said body into the interior thereof, said body having: a continuous, uninterrupted cross-section extending along its length, a generally cylindrical interior surface, and an open end defining a bi-directional fluid flow opening through which fluid may be flowed in opposite axial directions into and out of the interior of said body; and partition means for permanently dividing the interior of said hollow body into a plurality of separate, axially extending segments, in a manner preventing fluid cross flow between said segments during operation of said filter element, said partition means having a plurality of outer side edge surfaces permanently secured to said cylindrical interior surface of said body, whereby a backflushing fluid flow from an external source of pressurized backflushing fluid may be directed axially inwardly through said bi-directional opening into one of said plurality of segments simultaneously with the axially opposite flow through the remainder of said plurality of segments of filtered fluid exiting said bi-directional opening, and the filter body, and the partition means permanently secured therein, may simply be discarded at the end of the useful life of the filter body and replaced with another filter body having partition means permanently secured therein.
Claim 2
Dependent Claim 224 words

Claim 3
Dependent Claim 18 words
The filter element of claim 1 wherein: said hollow body is formed from a porous media filter material.
Claim 4
Dependent Claim 14 words
The filter element of claim 2 wherein: said porous media filter material is pleated.
Claim 5
Dependent Claim 23 words
The filter element of claim 1 wherein: said partition means divide the interior of said hollow body into three separate, axially extending segments.
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 55 words
The filter element of claim 4 wherein: said partition means include an elongated partition member disposed within the interior of said hollow body and extending generally parallel to said axis, said partition member having three circumferentially spaced, generally radially projecting panel portions, each of said panel portions including one of said outer side edge portions.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 18 words
The filter element of claim 1 wherein: said hollow body has, along its length, a generally circular cross-section.
