Abstract
Abstract A laser scanner apparatus using a laser reference beam that is directed to and scans a grating plate which is used for producing a data clock for the apparatus. The grating plate has a line grating formed by a plurality of lines that are equally spaced along the scan of the grating plate by the laser reference beam. The plurality of lines, if extended, intersect at a single point. The grating plate can have more than one such line grating.
