Abstract
Abstract A method for the production of soot filters using felt-like or other bats as filter elements, which are made up of loose refractory fibers. In order to bond the fibers together and to anchor then in place, the filter element made up of the fibers is coated by CVD or precipitation from a solution to give an amorphous coating. The coating is also refractory. It bonds the fibers together at their crossovers.
