Claims Analysis

Total Claims: 7
Claim 1
Independent Claim 124 words
A system for the centrifugal recovery of concentrated macromolecular liquid retentate comprising; (a) an apparatus comprising: a retentate reservoir containing macromolecular liquid retentate; a filter means attached to the top of the retentate reservoir, said filter means comprising: a semipermeable membrane; and an inverted support for said membrane having one or more filtrate ducts which, in conjunction with sealing means, holds the membrane in place; means for providing a liquid tight seal between the periphery of the retentate reservoir, the membrane, and the membrane support; a retentate cup attached to the bottom of the retentate reservoir; means for attaching the filter means to the retentate reservoir; means for attaching the retentate cup to the retentate reservoir; and (b) a centrifuge to receive said apparatus.
Claim 2
Claim 3
Dependent Claim 13 words
The apparatus of claim 1 wherein the membrane comprises an anisotropic ultrafiltration membrane.
Claim 4
Independent Claim 135 words
A method for centrifugally recovering concentrated macromolecular liquid retentate from the retentate reservoir of an apparatus, which apparatus comprises: a retentate reservoir containing macromolecular liquid retentate; a filter means attached to the top of the retentate reservoir, said filter means comprising: a semipermeable membrane; and an inverted support for said membrane having one or more filtrate ducts, which, in conjunction with sealing means, holds the membrane in place; means for providing a liquid tight seal between the periphery of the retentate reservoir, the membrane and the membrane support; a retentate cup attached to the bottom of the retentate reservoir; means for attaching the filter means to the retentate reservoir; and means for attaching the retentate cup to the retentate reservoir, comprising centrifuging the apparatus to expel a maximal amount of retentate into the retentate cup.
Claim 5
Claim 6
Dependent Claim 12 words
The method of claim 3 wherein the membrane comprises an anisotropic membrane.
Claim 7
Dependent Claim 12 words
The method of claim 3 wherein the membrane comprises an ultrafiltration membrane.
