Abstract

Abstract This invention provides a process for preparing a stable dispersion of vinyl polymer, the process comprising polymerizing at least one monomer polymerizable in radical polymerization in an organic liquid in which the monomer is soluble and in which the polymer produced from the monomer is insoluble and in the presence of a dispersion stabilizer comprising at least one polymer selected from the group consisting of: (A) at least one polymer selected from the polymers of acrylic or methacrylic monomer containing perfluoroalkyl group and represented by the formula ##STR1## wherein R is hydrogen or methyl, n is an integer of 1 to 11, and R f is straight chain or branched chain perfluoroalkyl group having 1 to 21 carbon atoms, (B) at least one copolymer containing as a copolymerizing component about 1% or more by weight of the perfluoroalkyl-containing acrylic or methacrylic monomer of the formula (1), and (C) at least one polymer which essentially contains fluoroolefin, is soluble in an organic solvent and has a weight-average molecular weight of about 5,000 to about 120,000 and a fluorine content of about 1 to about 60% by weight.
