Low pH hair conditioner compositions containing amine oxides

Claim 2

A cationic hair conditioning composition comprising: (a) an amine oxide of the formula: ##STR8## wherein R 1 and R 2 are the same or different moieties and are selected from lower (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl, alkoxy and hydroxy alkyl groups, and R 3 is an alkyl group containing 8 to 22 carbon atoms; and (b) water and sufficient acid to provide a pH for said composition of from about 3.8 to about 2.4 and an amine oxide concentration from about 0.5% to about 10% based on the total weight of said hair conditioning composition.

Claim 3

The cationic hair conditioning composition of claim 1 wherein said amine oxide concentration is from about 1.5% to about 6% based on the total weight of said hair conditioning composition.

Claim 4

The cationic hair conditioning composition of claim 1 wherein said amine oxide is stearyl dimethyl amine oxide.

Claim 5

The cationic hair conditioning composition of claim 1 wherein said amine oxide is oleyl dimethyl amine oxide.

Claim 6

A cationic hair conditioning composition comprising: (a) an amine oxide of the formula: ##STR9## wherein R 1 and R 2 are the same or different moieties and are selected from moieties that contain at least 8 carbon atoms, and R 3 is a moiety selected from a lower (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl, alkoxy or hydroxy alkyl group; and (b) water and sufficient acid to provide a pH for said composition of from 3.8 to about 2.4 and a amine oxide concentration from about 0.5% to about 10% based on the total weight of said hair conditioning composition.

Claim 7

A cationic hair conditioning composition comprising: (a) an amine oxide of the formula: ##STR9## wherein R 1 and R 2 are the same or different moieties and are selected from moieties that contain at least 8 carbon atoms, and R 3 is a moiety selected from a lower (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl, alkoxy or hydroxy alkyl group; and (b) water and sufficient acid to provide a pH for said composition of from 3.8 to about 2.4 and a amine oxide concentration from about 0.5% to about 10% based on the total weight of said hair conditioning composition.

Claim 8

The cationic hair conditioning composition of claim 5 wherein said amine oxide concentration is from about 1.5% to about 6% based on the total weight of said hair conditioning composition.

Claim 9

The cationic hair conditioning composition of claim 5 wherein said amine oxide is distearyl monomethylamine oxide.

Claim 10

A cationic hair conditioning composition comprising: (a) an amine oxide of the formula: ##STR10## wherein R 1 and R 2 are the same or different moieties and are selected from lower (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl, alkoxy and hydroxy alkyl groups, R 3 is a moiety containing an alkyl chain of at least 8 carbon atoms, and R 4 is a moiety selected from lower (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl groups; and, (b) water and sufficient acid to provide a pH for said composition of from about 3.8 to about 2.4 and an amine oxide concentration from about 0.5% to about 10% based on the total weight of hair conditioning composition.

Claim 11

A cationic hair conditioning composition comprising: (a) an amine oxide of the formula: ##STR10## wherein R 1 and R 2 are the same or different moieties and are selected from lower (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl, alkoxy and hydroxy alkyl groups, R 3 is a moiety containing an alkyl chain of at least 8 carbon atoms, and R 4 is a moiety selected from lower (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl groups; and, (b) water and sufficient acid to provide a pH for said composition of from about 3.8 to about 2.4 and an amine oxide concentration from about 0.5% to about 10% based on the total weight of hair conditioning composition.

Claim 12

The cationic hair conditioning composition of claim 8 wherein said amine oxide concentration is from about 1.5% to about 6% based on the total weight of said hair conditioning composition.

Claim 13

The cationic hair conditioning composition of claim 8 wherein said amine oxide is cocoylamidopropyl dimethyl amine oxide.

Claim 14

A cationic hair conditioning composition comprising: (a) an amine oxide of the formula: ##STR11## wherein R 1 is a moiety having an alkyl chain of at least 8 carbon atoms, and R 2 is a moiety selected from the group consisting of 2-hydroxyethyl, a derivative of 2-hydroxyethyl, and a nonionic derivative of 2-amino ethyl; and (b) water and sufficient acid to provide a pH for said composition of from about 3.8 to about 2.14 and an amine oxide concentration from about 0.5% to about 10% based on the total weight of said hair conditioning composition.

Claim 15

A cationic hair conditioning composition comprising: (a) an amine oxide of the formula: ##STR11## wherein R 1 is a moiety having an alkyl chain of at least 8 carbon atoms, and R 2 is a moiety selected from the group consisting of 2-hydroxyethyl, a derivative of 2-hydroxyethyl, and a nonionic derivative of 2-amino ethyl; and (b) water and sufficient acid to provide a pH for said composition of from about 3.8 to about 2.14 and an amine oxide concentration from about 0.5% to about 10% based on the total weight of said hair conditioning composition.

Claim 16

The cationic hair conditioning composition of claim 11 wherein said amine oxide concentration is from about 1.5% to about 6% based on the total weight of said hair conditioning composition.

Claim 17

The cationic hair conditioning composition of claim 11 wherein said amine oxide is oleic imidazoline amine oxide.

Claim 18

A cationic hair conditioning composition comprising: (a) an amine oxide of the formula: ##STR12## wherein R is a moiety having an alkyl chain of at least 6 carbon atoms; and (b) water and sufficient acid to provide a pH for said composition of from about 3.8 to about 2.4 and an amine oxide concentration from about 0.5% to 10% based on the total weight of said hair conditioning compositions.

Claim 19

A cationic hair conditioning composition comprising: (a) an amine oxide of the formula: ##STR12## wherein R is a moiety having an alkyl chain of at least 6 carbon atoms; and (b) water and sufficient acid to provide a pH for said composition of from about 3.8 to about 2.4 and an amine oxide concentration from about 0.5% to 10% based on the total weight of said hair conditioning compositions.

Claim 20

The cationic hair conditioning composition of claim 14 wherein said amine oxide concentration is from about 1.5% to about 6% based on the total weight of said hair conditioning composition.

Claim 21

A cationic hair conditioning comprising: (a) and amine oxide of the formula: ##STR13## wherein R 1 is a moiety that contains an alkyl chain having at least 8 carbon atoms; R 2 is a moiety from the group consisting of ##STR14## and an alkyl chain of at least 8 carbon atoms; x is an integer from 1 to 30; and R 3 and R 4 are the same or different moieties and are selected from a lower (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl group; and (b) water and sufficient acid to provide a pH for said composition of from about 3.8 to about 2.4 and an amine oxide concentration from about 0.5% to about 10% based on the total weight of said hair conditioning composition.

Claim 22

A cationic hair conditioning comprising: (a) and amine oxide of the formula: ##STR13## wherein R 1 is a moiety that contains an alkyl chain having at least 8 carbon atoms; R 2 is a moiety from the group consisting of ##STR14## and an alkyl chain of at least 8 carbon atoms; x is an integer from 1 to 30; and R 3 and R 4 are the same or different moieties and are selected from a lower (C 1 -C 4 ) alkyl group; and (b) water and sufficient acid to provide a pH for said composition of from about 3.8 to about 2.4 and an amine oxide concentration from about 0.5% to about 10% based on the total weight of said hair conditioning composition.

Claim 23

The cationic hair conditioning composition of claim 16 wherein said amine oxide concentration is from about 1.5% to about 6% based on the total weight of said hair.
